Using Blogging and Web Tools to Improve Writing

IN CLASS ACTIVITIES

Tasks:

 

Start a practice blog that we will delete shortly:

1. Title is "Practice Blog"

2. Choose a template and address, then "Start Posting"

3. For your first post, we will call it "Post 1" so you can see how the posts are laid out.  You wouldn't want to call your real world posts this

4. Type a heading, change the font style, color and boldface it

5. Add a photo; resize it, left align it, and add a caption

6. Make a hyperlink

7. Add a video from youtube

8. Check your spelling

9. Save, Publish, Preview

10. Close, then add another post called "Post 2"

11. View blog

12. Change your template

 

PAGES - pages are for more permanent information such as an About Me page or Useful Links

1. Click on "Add Page" from the dashboard.  Save and publish your page. 

2. For your page to be viewable, you have to add the Pages gadget.  To do this, from the dashboard, click on "Layout," and then "Add gadget" or "Add Pages" if you have that option. 

 

FOLLOW EMAIL GADGET:  Add this if you want people to be able to follow your blog via email.  To do this, from the dashboard, click on "Layout," and then "Add gadget," and then "Follow Email."
